Travel to Mulberry

Mulberry's offices are located in Rockville, MD. The following information and/or directions assumes you will be staying in a Rockville area hotel. As with most things, which transportation option you choose is often a matter of time or money; for example, ground transportation via our Metro subway system will almost always be the least expensive, but may entail more travel time.

Air Travel to Mulberry

There are several airports that service the metropolitan DC area and can be used if you are flying in for class:

The airports vary in terms of ease of access and possibly airfare, although all three are relatively the same distance from our offices and local Rockville hotels. Because of its easier access to our offices and area hotels, we suggest flying into Reagan National Airport; however, we provide information on all three area airports, including options for transport to/from each airport to our offices and local hotels.

Reagan National Airport (DCA) -- right next to Washington, DC

Once you have flown into Reagan National, you can get to your hotel by:

  • taxi (probably the most expensive option -- approximately $60 one way)
  • shuttle (a less expensive option, with shuttles operating on a shared ride-on demand basis -- approximately $30 one way)
  • the "Metro" subway system (least expensive option)
  • renting a vehicle

There are several taxi companies servicing the airport. For students choosing to use a shuttle, two companies service Reagan National:

For those choosing the Metro, Reagan National is on the Yellow and Blue lines. We suggest you take the Yellow line for "Fort Totten" and get off at the "Gallery Place (Chinatown)" station. At Gallery Place, take the Red line for "Shady Grove".

[NOTE: A second, but more lengthy option is to take the Blue line for "Largo Town Center", then get off at "Metro Center" and take the Red line for "Shady Grove". You can use this option in the event the Yellow line is out-of-service at Reagan National.]

If you are staying at one of the following hotels, get off at the designated stop on the Red line:

  • Rockville Hilton -- Twinbrook station (walking distance to hotel)
  • EVEN Hotel -- Twinbrook station (walking distance to hotel)
  • Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center -- White Flint station (walking distance to hotel)
  • Hyatt Regency Bethesda (and other Bethesda hotels) -- Bethesda station (walking distance to hotel)
  • Best Western Plus Rockville Hotel & Suites -- Rockville station (then taxi to hotel)
  • Courtyard Marriott -- Shady Grove station (then taxi to hotel)
  • HYATT house Gaithersburg -- Shady Grove station (then taxi to hotel)

For other area hotels, we suggest you contact the hotel and ask which Metro station is closest. Many hotels, including some of those listed above, offer shuttles to/from their closest Metro station.

For more information, see:

Dulles International Airport (IAD) -- in northern Virginia

Once you have flown into Dulles International, you can get to your hotel by:

  • taxi (probably the most expensive option -- approximately $60 one way)
  • shuttle (a less expensive option, with shuttles operating on a shared ride-on demand basis -- approximately $30 one way)
  • Washington Flyer Silver Line Express Bus and "Metro" subway system (least expensive option)
  • renting a vehicle

There are several taxi companies servicing the airport. For students choosing to use a shuttle, two companies service Dulles International:

  • Super Shuttle (you can arrange transport at www.supershuttle.com or see their representative at Ground Transportation Level)
  • Supreme Shuttle (you can arrange transport at www.supremeairportshuttle.com or see their representative at Ground Transportation Level)

Dulles International has NO immediate access to the Metro system. You can take a taxi to the closest Metro station, "Wiehle-Reston East" (on the Silver line), or you can choose to the Washington Flyer Silver Line Express Bus. The Bus travels exclusively between Dulles and the Silver line's "Wiehle-Reston East" station and costs approximately $7 one way. (For those familiar with the Flyer Coach to/from the "West Falls Church" Metro station, the Washington Flyer Silver Line Express has replaced service to the Metro's Orange line.) At the "Wiehle-Reston East" station, take the Silver line to the "Metro Center" station and transfer to the Red line for "Shady Grove".

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) -- between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC

From BWI Thurgood Marshall, you can get to your hotel by:

  • taxi (probably the most expensive option -- approximately $70 one way)
  • shuttle (a less expensive option, with shuttles operating on a shared ride-on demand basis -- approximately $45 one way)
  • MARC train and "Metro" subway system
  • renting a vehicle

There are several taxi companies servicing the airport. For students choosing to use a shuttle, only one company provides service from BWI Thurgood Marshall to the Rockville area:

  • Super Shuttle (you can arrange transport at www.supershuttle.com or see their representative at Ground Transportation Level)

BWI Thurgood Marshall has NO immediate access to the Metro system. You can take a taxi or the free MARC shuttle to the BWI Marshall Rail Station (one mile from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport); Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) shuttle stops are located on the airport's lower level terminal roadway. From the BWI Marshall Rail Station, you take a MARC "Penn Line" train (approximately $6) to Union Station in Washington, DC. Union Station services Amtrak, MARC, and other rail lines, as well as the Metro subway system; after leaving the MARC train, move to the Metro portion of the station and take the Red line for "Shady Grove".

[NOTE: Although MARC also runs a train (Brunswick Line) from Union Station to Rockville, switching to the Metro subway system will get you to Rockville quicker; with fewer Brunswick Line trains, the wait for a MARC train will be longer.]

For other area hotels, we suggest you contact the hotel and ask which Metro station is closest. Many hotels, including some of those listed above, offer shuttles to/from their closest Metro station.

In addition, Washington, DC's Union Station is one of the terminus stops on the high speed Acela route which includes stops in Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. At Union Station, leave the train terminal and enter to the portion of the station servicing the Metro subway system. Take a Metro Red Line train for "Shady Grove".
